Namesake
Named after Annie O'Keeffe, who fled the Japanese occupation of the Aru Islands in 1942 and sought refuge in Australia. She later challenged the Australian Government in the High Court, helping to expose the injustice of the White Australia Policy. Her story is one of quiet courage and lasting change.
