Namesake
Ellis Stones was Australia's first popular landscape architect, eventually writing the bestselling Australian Garden Design in 1971. He designed around the existing environment rather than ignoring it and a key element of his bush garden style was utilising existing trees, to set the house and garden beneath an existing canopy, making it feel as though it was part of the natural environment.

Ellis Stone's subtle style is now ubiquitous and his pioneering interest in native conservation can still be seen throughout modern Australian landscape design.
